Frequently Asked Questions

Do you offer financing?

We do! We understand that taking any course can be a big financial investment for our students and we strive to ease the financial pressure by offering financing services through “iFinance” for Canadian students as well as “Sezzle” for both American and Canadian students. We will be introducing a US finance partner shortly.

Do I have to bring a model?

Yes, our students are to provide their own model, preferably someone you are comfortable to perform a service on and understands they are there for your learning purposes. Model sessions can take up to 3 full hours.

Where are you located, when is the course date?

We offer courses in several different locations across Ontario (Barrie, Toronto, Niagara & London) with many course date options available. Please go to our website, select your course, your preferred location, and then select the dates you wish to attend your course. We also offer courses via Zoom all throughout Canada and the US or online at your own pace if time and place is at all an issue.

Is the kit included? How will you send me the kit?

Yes! Most of our course registrations include a starter kit (exception of Brow Lamination and Lash Lift). That kit will include products exclusive to your course to get you started. We also offer optional upgraded Expert kits and pigment packs. Any in class registrations will receive their kits inclass. For Zoom or online courses, we will ship your kits to you once your registration has been processed so you have your kit before the course starts.

How old do you have to be to take a course?

For our PMU courses, we require all students to be over the age of 18. For our other non-invasive courses, such as lash extensions, lash lift, and brow lamination, any student under the age of 18 is not permitted to miss a school day to do so without written permission from the school for a missed class day.

Why are your courses shorter than others on the market?

We offer intimate class sizes which allows us to move through the course material more efficiently. Our goal is to make our courses both time and cost effective. That being said, we want our students to feel 100% comfortable before working on the public, so we offer an open door policy and Free Follow Up Training which allows our students to participate in the same course over again until they feel confident because we understand while the courses are standard they are fast.

Are your courses taught only in English?

Yes, at this time our courses are only taught in English. If our non english speaking students require a translator we ask you arrange this prior to your course date and speak with our training coordinator for future detail and instructions.

Do I need any pre-existing licensing or education to take your courses?

Our courses are perfect for all experience levels! No prior licensing, education, or certifications are required to enroll in our courses. We do let our students know that they are responsible for obtaining information on their local rules & regulations regarding licensing and permits before offering services as every State and Province has its own guidelines that need to be followed.

Do you offer private training sessions?

We do offer private courses for an additional fee. Please contact our training coordinator for further details and inquiry.

Where do I purchase more products when my kit runs out?

All products retaining to our courses are available for purchase on our website. Post certification, students will also be entitled to a 15% off student discount. We encourage our students to continue to purchase and use our products to ensure your products are Health Canada approved and regulated.

What's the difference between Microblading, Microshading, and Nano Brows?

Microshading, also referred to as ombre or powder brows, is a technique done using a machine with a single needle to create fine pinpoint “pixels” of pigment throughout the brow creating a filled in or powder like look. Both Microblading and Nano brows are used to create natural looking hair like strokes, the major difference being, microblading is done with a handheld tool consisting of several small needles and nano is done using a machine and a single extra fine needle. Because of it being done with a machine and single needle, Nano brows are known to be less traumatic for the skin resulting in easier healing and longer lasting results, though both techniques have their own unique benefits.

Why don’t we use pre-made fans for volume lashes?

The biggest benefit to using handmade fans opposed to pre-made fans is the full control it gives the lash tech to create a unique look tailored to their clients wants and needs. Every client you meet will have a different set of natural lashes- some thick and full, some more thin and sparse- creating your own fans gives you the ability to make fans as big or small as desired to achieve the desired look based on the natural lashes at hand.

FAQ

FAQ

How Many Eyelashes Do You Apply?

We suggest as a lash and brow Technician that everyone gets a complete set of lashes. Some companies count out lashes but this results in an unfinished look and a un-happy client. Every client will be different depending on their lash line but you should not stop filling their lashes until all of their full-grown lashes have extensionsattached. The first application will be on average anywhere from 60-100 extensions attached per eye.

Graceful Lashes eyelash extensions are single strands of silk lashes that are attached one-per-one to your own natural lashes. Each strand is tapered at the tip with a thick base and curled to give a natural appearance. Each lash is adhered using an acyanoacrylate based adhesive which features flexibility, safety, durability and longevity. Unopened the adhesive is good for 1 year and only 3 months after opening (less if it is used more often due to oxidizing).

The look you choose can last indefinitely with refills every 2-3 weeks. Like the hair on your head, your lashes grow and shed in a cycle which can last anywhere from 3-5 months. When a natural lash sheds a new lash has already been growing and quickly replaces it. When properly applied the eyelash extension will remain attached until the lash falls out naturally. Refills are necessary to replenish the fallen hairs and maintain the look.

How Can I Prepare for My Appointment?

1. Avoid wearing mascara to the appointment

2. Avoid anything with oils near the eyes and eyelashes day of the appointment

What Type of Eyelashes are Used?

Graceful Lashes technicians use silk lashes. They are extremely lightweight and look and feel like normal hair. We do not condone animal cruelty so we do not carry Mink lashes.

What Type of Adhesive is Used?

Graceful Lashes uses a cyanoacrylate based adhesive which is the same adhesive in a band-aid. We have formaldehyde and carcinogen free adhesive. As well we have a hypoallergenic adhesive for those who are ultra sensitive.

Can The Lash Stylist Help to Create My Perfect Lashes?

Yes, lash stylists at Graceful Lashes have extensive knowledge in creating all different looks with different sizes, thickness and curls of lashes to create any look depending on your personal eye shape and size.

How Can I Care for My Lashes?

1. Nothing with oils on the lashes

2. Rinse after 24-48 hours to get rid of film of adhesive

3. Brush daily

4. Do not get wet, steam or sweat for 24 hours

5. Do not pick lashes
